Protecting watch cases with cushions

April 25th, 2009 · No Comments

A watch case houses all the important and most delicate parts of a watch. It is therefore very important to keep it protected and cushioned from shock. Case cushions serve this very purpose.

The Bergeon casing cushion is made of a felt pad with a hollow center and is held by a metal ring. It is covered with stamoid. To protect the glass casing, it has a synthetic covering that has non-scratch properties. It comes in superior and ordinary variants. The case is placed on the cushion for working. It is used for all casing movements as well as un-casing movements, removing screws, making corrections etc. It is also used for closing and opening cases.

The main features of this cushion are a non slip top and non slip base. It also has a metal retaining ring around the cushion and has a hollow centre.

Top Quality Extra large case cushion is extra large in size but still comes for a reasonable price. It is very useful when working with watches having extra large cases. It is a felt pad cushion with a hollow in the centre. It is covered with stamoid, a synthetic covering that prevents scratches on glass surfaces. The cushion is held in place by a synthetic ring and it has a non slip base which makes it comfortable to work on.

The Bergeon glass observation mirror is a friend of the professional as well as amateur watchmakers. The mirror helps to observe the watch movement on both sides as the work is being carried out. It is designed to be very useful for all kinds of watch repair work.
