Polishing is an important part of servicing or repairing a watch. There are many types of polishing compounds and tools that help in achieving high quality polish in watch parts.
The 7 piece polishing compound kit has a collection of different polishing compounds that will be needed in a standard watch workshop. The kit has Tripmax brown compound that is ideal for first cut and flattening on non ferrous metals as well as plastics and veneers. The Bluemax Blue polishing compound finds use in final finishing on non ferrous metals. For final finishing on plastics and veneers the Profin Buff compound can be used; for first flattening on steels, Abramax Grey compound is useful; with the Profin Pink compound, final polishing on steel can be done while the Starmax Rouge is ideally suited to polish soft and precious metals like gold and silver.
The Vienna Lime that accompanies this kit helps in removing polishing compound residues. Lime powder can be taken on to a soft cloth and gently wiped on polished surfaces to remove polishing compound residues. It is also useful in bringing out extra sheen on stainless steel.
The Abramax Black polishing compound for steel is best suited for first stage polishing of metals like copper, brass, steels and stainless steel. It is known to work well with sisal buffing wheels. The Bluemax Blue polishing compound comes as a 100gm bar and is used for final finishing on metals such as aluminium, brass and copper. The Platinum Blue polishing compound comes as a 5 ounce bar and can be used to remove slight scratches from all kinds of metals. If platinum items are being polished, it is advisable to use fine emery before the actual polishing operation. To give a final finish to platinum parts, the Platinum Pumpkin Rouge comes in handy. More compounds are available for initial as well as final polishing.
